# General settings

> Theme, notifications, and personal preferences.

General settings cover your personal preferences and workspace defaults. Access them from the **Settings** icon at the bottom of the left sidebar, then click **General**.

## What you'll find here

The General settings page has two main sections:

### Theme

Choose the appearance of your Hops workspace:

* **System** — match your operating system's light or dark setting.
* **Light** — always use the light theme.
* **Dark** — always use the dark theme.

### Notifications

Toggle notification preferences on or off. Notifications keep you informed when something needs your attention: an agent's output is ready, someone mentions you, or an action needs your approval.

Under **Notification sound**, pick the sound Hops plays for in-app notifications. Use the preview button next to each option to hear it before saving.
