# Skills

> Skills are installable, shareable capabilities that extend Hops for specific roles and workflows.

A skill is a packaged capability for Hops — instructions, tone, priorities, and (optionally) tool access — bundled under a name your team recognizes. Install a skill and Hops uses it whenever the request calls for it. Share a skill and everyone's Hops runs the same playbook.

## Why skills

Instead of maintaining a roster of separate agents, your team runs **one Hops** and picks the skills it should have. When Hops responds using a skill, the message is attributed like **Hops · Pipeline watch** so it's clear which skill shaped the answer.

Skills cover the roles a team relies on:

* **Sales** — pre-call prep, follow-ups, deal handoffs
* **Ops** — weekly reports, vendor onboarding, decision logs
* **Marketing** — campaign launches, content repurposing, brand copy
* **Finance** — monthly close, board prep, spend anomalies
* **Legal** — contract summaries, NDA prep, compliance Q\&A
* **Consulting / Professional Services** — engagement kickoff, deliverables, client status
* **Founders & Executives** — weekly briefs, board deck prep, investor updates
* **Product & Engineering** — release notes, incident reviews, sprint summaries
* **HR & People Ops** — new-hire onboarding, JD drafts, policy Q\&A

## Find your skills

Skills live under **Settings → Skills**. The page has four tabs:

* **All** — every skill you can use, from any source.
* **Created by me** — skills you built.
* **Managed by me** — skills you own or admin.
* **Shared with me** — skills a teammate shared with you.

## Use a skill

Once a skill is installed, Hops picks it up automatically when the request matches. You can also invoke it explicitly:

Attribution on the response (**Hops · Pipeline watch**) tells you which skill Hops ran.

## Where skills live

Skills are installed at the workspace level and are shareable across your team. Once installed, they're available to everyone's Hops in every Space.

<Tip>
  Keep a small, focused set of skills installed. Fewer, sharper skills give better results than a long list of overlapping ones.
